Misr University for Science & Technology (MUST) was established by a Presidential Decree in 1996 and in accordance with the law governing Private Universities in Egypt. MUST is authorized to grant B.A, B.S, M.A, M.S, and Ph.D. Degrees in different fields of study. All their programs have been accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt. MUST is an active member of the Association of Arab Universities, the International Association of University Presidents and the Association of African Universities.

MUST offers programmes in the following areas

Medicine, Dental Surgery, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Engineering, Business, Mass Media, Foreign Languages, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Applied Medical Sciences, Archaeology & Tourism Guidance and Special Education.

Call for Volunteer Young Social Media Reporters

To Support the Social Media Campaign for the 2015 African University Day

The Association of African Universities (AAU) has partnered with Ashesi University to organise the celebrations that will recognise the African University Day this year. This year the AAU Secretariat will pilot the use of Social Media to create awareness about the African University Day. This innovative approach will harness Social Media to create awareness and engage the higher education community electronically through the use of TWITTER, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE and BLOGGING. This approach aims to generate “noise and excitement” online about higher education in Africa and contribute towards the advocacy role of the AAU.

Roles of Volunteer Young Social Media Reporters

  1. Selected volunteer social media reporters will work online to retweet, like facebook posts, share videos, share pictures, write blog articles and re-post posts related to the AU Day. These volunteers will work online from 13th October 2015 to 13th November 2015 – at least 30 minutes a day up to 11th November and 4 hours on 12th November2015.
  2. The social media reporters will be guided on what to tweet. E.g. a schedule of tweet and facebook posts will be shared with the reporters.
  3. A maximum of 15 vounteer-students will be selected from Ashesi University to support the online campaign but also participate in “onsite social media reporting” / be physically present on the 12th November 2015
  4. The hash tag #AUDay2015 will be used to tag all the posts that will be posted to enable aggregation and tracking of traffic about the 2015 African University Day
  5. While tweeting or liking posts social media reporters will be encouraged to mention universities in Africa and hopefully create awareness on and promote these universities as well.
  6. All selected volunteer social media reporters will be expected to follow AAU social media platforms

The Profile of a Young Social Media Reporter

  1. Has experience using at least three of the following – twitter, facebook, youtube, flickr, blogs, linkedin, etc
  2. Loves social media and visits them daily
  3. Has a smart phone and access to internet
  4. Has a good reputation in social media communities
  5. Understands the importance of hash tags and content agrregation
  6. Appreciates the importance of higher education for Africa
